THE BLUE HOLE: Approximately 80’ in diameter and 50-87’ deep, the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM is an ideal location to do your specialty dives. The water is Artesian fed and flows thru the Blue Hole at a rate of 9 million gallons per day and is completely exchanged every 8 hours. This clear, fresh water has visibility of 50’ to 80’ and a constant temperature year round of 61 degrees warmer than the beaches of Southern California! Lucy's Puppies

If you have been in the shop over the last three years you probably were greeted by Lucy, the shop mascott. We bread Lucy in August with a Black Lab, and recently she had a litter of 8 puppies. Lucy's puppies are almost 3 weeks old now. Four puppies are still available. Both Lucy and the male are AKC registered Labs. The male is a beautiful Black Lab. His hips were rated as "Excellent". Lucy's hips were rated as "Good". The male is about 75 pounds and Lucy is about 65 pounds. We are selling the females for $650.00 and the males for $600.00, based on a first come first pick basis, on the puppies that are left. The attachment has a great picture of the litter. You can also meet them in person almost anytime, as they are only 2 miles from the shop.

We just got back from our annual Lake Turquoise weekend up near Leadville, CO. We go up every year over the first weekend of August and do a Lake clean up and Treasure Hunt dive. As always we had a great time. There were about 60 people who participated. Water clarity was about 20 feet and the temperature was about 60 degrees at the surface. For most divers the Treasure Hunt dive was the only dive they did but, there were a few hardy souls who did several dives over the weekend. Tiffany and Rueben hit 101 feet on one of their dives. At 10,000 feet above sea level that is quite a dive. Most of the divers on the Treasure Hunt dive reached a max depth of about 27 feet. I think that the diving is merely an excuse for most everyone to camp out for a few days at a beautiful mountain lake with a bunch of other divers and talk diving. We had great weather on Saturday for the BBQ dinner and the bonfire.
Our next big event is tenatively set for mid September. The Whites Dry Suit rep. is coming to Chatfield reservoir for a dry suit demo day. In conjunction with the demo day Underwater Phantaseas Lakewood will be offering special pricing on Whites Dry Suits. We will stay in touch with details as they become available.

12th Annual Lake Turquoise Dive Weekend!

12th Annual Underwater Phantaseas LAKE TURQUOISE WEEKEND GETAWAY

Lake Turquoise, located 10 minutes outside of Leadville, CO is a large reservoir (over 3 miles long and 1 1/2 miles wide) that is about a 2 hour drive from Lakewood. Located at 9,800 feet, it’s one of the clearest reservoirs in the state and, by August, water temperatures will be in the low 60’s. The lake has a number of excellent campsites with hiking trails, fishing, biking, and of course, scuba diving. There will be an underwater clean-up and treasure hunt. This is a great time to meet other local divers during a quick, local, and inexpensive weekend dive getaway! Diving Lake Turquoise is only half the fun of this annual event! An Introduction

To get started, allow us to introduce ourselves. We at Underwater Phantaseas in Lakewood, Colorado are excited to be joining the blogging world. We have been in business in Lakewood since the late '80s and have a lot of stories and information to share! We're a small shop (only 6 employees) and we strive to maintain that family feel at our store.

Being a full service Dive Shop, we offer a full line of equipment. Among the many brands we have are Aqualung, Sherwood, SeaQuest, Atomic, Suunto and Aeris. Of course we also teach all levels of SCUBA, from beginning level to instructor. We are proud to have an on-site salt water pool for all of our training!

We're excited to be starting this blog to discuss anything and everything about scuba and travel. Please check back often as we'll be posting as often as we can!
